clamshell mounts
I got the clamshell tower's, mounts and a 1.250 swaybar from my local yard. Started the install today. You can see the mounting location for the original tower here.

I was able to elongate the upper holes in the towers to get them to bolt up to the upper mounting location and was able to line up the rear hole on the bottom.

Drilled out the front hole for the bolts and set the mounts in loosely. Will be working on setting motor in tomorrow and seeing where the engine and trans ends up in relation to the stock location.

I got the motor and trans in place today. There's plenty of room and seems to be about 1 1/2" further back which is fine by me. I haven't decided if I'm gonna fab a newer trans mount or just drill some holes. That pretty much covers the clamshells. They fit with very little mods. Will still need to take a look at driveshaft length.

Thanks Gringo, I'll probably be getting tips from your thread too. Looks like you've got a lot done on your ride. My truck is a C20 camper special that I'm gonna try and do some of the same things........If only I had more time in the day.

ok, so it's been a while since I posted last. Got some headers at the local meet for $60 that sit a little below the bottom of frame, but would run right into the original trans mount.....so I made a new one. Used the existing holes on the frame and this will be modified again later as I will be putting in a 700r once I've got it on the road. The driveshaft will need to be shortened about 2 inches as well. On the plus side the mount was made with a bunch of scrap I had from other projects.

here's a few with the exhaust in place. As I get some time the exhaust will be routed thru the trailing arm cross member.
