Inline fuse question?

I replaced my radio the other day with a jvc aftermarket cd player, and when i was hooking up the Red wire i noticed it was worn and old, so i replaced the wires, but the original had an inline fuse, so would it be okay to run the new wire without an inline fuse?
Also, on the fuse box there was an empty spot labeled "Battery" and since the old radio didnt need a constant power wire, i hooked one up from there, is that ok? any opinions are appreciated, thanks.

Re: Inline fuse question?

There is probably a ACC fuse outlet that you can use for the radio that will have a fuse. I never hook up any wire without a fuse somewhere.
The BAT terminal is there for just such as your radio.

yeah always use a fuse, keep ur truck from buring down, u can buy a little thing thats called add a circuit or add a fuse or something, allows u to add on to an existing fuse. or just buy a little add a fuse and install ur own.

Re: Inline fuse question?

The Alpine I recently installed had a factory fuse on the radio itself, so you might want to check for that. I kept the existing inline blade fuse in the power supply wire just because it was there and add extra measure of safety.
