summer's over, back to work

Been awhile since I've posted, so thought I would post a picture of my Gmc earning it's keep. Found a 1928 Plymouth sedan, been thinking about doing a fenderless street rod. Not sure If I'm ready to take the sawzall to it though.

Nice! Post up pictures of your hitch setup, I'm interested in doing this with mine too. Did you retain the tow/haul mode with your 4l60?

Ditto, as much as I like fenderless hotrods they just have better curves with the fenders on

Hope this picture of the hitch helps. If I remember right, I used 1/4" wall 3" square tubing, with 1/4" gussets at top & bottom where the tube meets the frame. When I ordered the harness from John at Speartech, I asked about keeping the tow / haul mode, he told me that wasn't an option on his harness.

Re: summer's over, back to work

SUPER COOL to see your truck being used for hauling!

I was going to ask about the hitch as well, but someone beat me to it.

On the tow/haul, I seem to recall in a different thread that you need the vehicle harness to make tow haul work.

Have you ever wished you had a 4L80E.

I'm planning on putting a 6.0L LQ9 in my 50 and on the fence. I know the 80 is bigger and consumes more power, but I want to be able to drive the truck hard and not worry about the 60 puking out. I know you can build up 60's but that takes $$$ and the 80 is pretty tough right out of the box.

That does help, could you also post pics of how the hitch clears the bumper or did you use a 54 drop center bumper?

I used to feel this way too, but after several years of towing my 4500 pound Jeep on my 2500 pound trailer with my 1500 Suburban I'm convinced of the durability of the 4L60.
