LMC Box sides - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Anyone on here have any experience with LMC or Classic parts complete box sides. I was thinking about ordering 2 newbox sides as apposed to purchasing some used origanals. I understand originals are way better ,but are the LMC or classic parts box sides any good or are they JUNK. Looking for some opinions with hopefully some experience. A good Canadian box around here goes for about a $1000. Yes I said $1000 and is most likely going to have some rust. But I can purchase a set of LMC or Classicparts box sides for around $325 each. What should I do. I live in the rustbelt.

I have never done a bed side from LMC, but I doubt that its anything close to a OEM bedside. I would talk with our forum vendors and see what they have to offer.

Like Ken said ive never knowingly installed an aftermarket bedside unless one was on one of my beds. If the aftermarket doors are any indication of the quality of the aftermarket bed sides, id stay the heck away from them

On the old bed i had on my truck, i know they used aftermarket bed patches on it.. they stunk worse that a roadkill skunk

My only experience was with an aftermarket passenger front fender and it was ok. But everything else has always been OEM and it ALWAYS fits perfect.

I have not purchased the sides, but I did get cab corners and rockers and a bed front. None of the aftermarket parts are the same as OEM. The parts are imported, and most of the suppliers source them from the same places. The fit and finish of what I got was ok the end result will look good. Whoever does the body work will always need to massage the aftermarket part to get it to look right. If I could get a rust-free OEM part (new or used) at a reasonable price I would always take that. Easier said than done.

Bed sides are large, complex, highly-visible parts and subject to heavy use. I had some small areas of rust on mine, but I had it fixed because it was a better option. The bed front was badly distorted and dented, due to careless loading. Since it is not very visible and is a simple piece, I replaced it.

IMO it is worth the effort to find a usable OEM part for the sides, tailgate, hood and doors. I can live with aftermarket for the rest, though I would get OEM if available.
