dodge axle swap

as you guys know i have been trying to build a late 70s crew with a dmax swapped for yearsand wife has finally gave the go ahead. i want to use the push button transfer case in the truck also. so i need a left side drop axle. i know i can use a late 70s ford and keep leaf springs. but i kinda want a dodge axle and coils if i can. anybody got and info or can lead me in the right direction to where to start on this. i dont have the truck yet but trying to plan every step out.

Re: dodge axle swap

looks like he built a 4 link. im just wanting to swap over the dodge parts to my chevy frame so this isnt exactly what im needing to find out about. also 2wd trucks have coil springs wonder if i can use some of the 2wd parts and use the axle in that.

Re: dodge axle swap

For a coilover type http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/Fro...Conversion.htm sells it in pieces will work with any axle since your welding it on.

Re: dodge axle swap

3 grand no thanks i just want to do basically what they did on extreme 4x4 with that suburban gorrilla they built. does anybody have and details on doing that. this truck doesnt need to be a crazy offroader. it will rarley see dirt. it will have some type of auto hubs too since my wife may have to drive it in snow occasionally. question how bad do leaf springs ride. i had a 84 and i didnt think it was that bad but i didnt drive it really due to how bad the motor was in it. plus the shocks where wore out.

Re: dodge axle swap

I'd just run some soft ride springs. Maybe out of a newer superduty..?
