Exhaust/muffler questions?

Okay I'm getting ready to have a new exhaust system made for my 1965 LWB fleet side and was wondering what brand or style of mufflers to run? Chevy small block 400 with stock ram horns. I like the look of duel pipes and would like to keep the rumble to a minimum. I am trying to maintain a semi stock look and sound. Flowmaster or Magnaflow 2.25, 2.5, or 3 inch? Crossover? If anyone has input or images of a good sounding system please let me know. Thanks....…

I just used stock resonators but did add a H pipe crossover, it does not drone at all. Really like the crossover......Kieth

Re: Exhaust/muffler questions?

Here’s my 2 ¼” system with a crossover and Flowtech Terminator mufflers. They aren’t well known but I’ve been running them since 1996 and love the sound. Having the crossover pipe makes all the difference in the world regarding sound level in the cab.

Re: Exhaust/muffler questions?

I have 2 1/2 Ram Horns on my 65 C10 Truck (straight down design). I want to buy a pre-made exhaust system that will fix the 2 1/2 inch ram horns and also work with this wheel base. Anyone have experience or is using a pre-made exhaust system with this setup. thanks for any help.

Re: Exhaust/muffler questions?

3 inch exhaust with flowmaster 40 series would work fine if you want a quiet deep growl. I think cat tail exhaust would look cool on that. Dynomax makes good mufflers also but they are gonna be a bit louder. I would do three inch exhaust on that with a cross over or without.
