Junkyard finds

I usually hang out on the 73+ board, but tend to jump around. I found these little gems in the junkyard today. They are pretty used up. The blue truck was a svc/plow truck at a local garage, drivetrain complete, minus the p/s & p/b set ups. It still has the disc brake front axle, SPID pic incl. The other truck is pretty rough, no SPID, cab roof looks good. Always hate to see them get crushed.

Re: Junkyard finds

Boooo! I hate to see them in the crushing yard or even worse at the bottom of a pile of crushed cars on a semi.

Re: Junkyard finds

Do you know them well enough to ask what they would take for the white '71? I would be very tempted to go down (I am in NH) and pick it up. At least to salvage the parts and distribute them back here to board members. Or PM me with contact info. If not me then some board member in the northeast would likely snap it up.

A couple of years ago when scrap steel prices spiked hundreds of these got crushed and melted down. If prices spike again these will meet the same fate.

Re: Junkyard finds

I'd like to have the glove box door with the SPID. I'm starting to collect them now. And the front bumper of the blue one for the wrecker.!!!!

Re: Junkyard finds

The trucks are @ Brockton Auto Parts, I think Hank is the guy you want to talk to, as he is the owner. They might sell the white one whole. I may go back there on Sunday and grab the hubs off the Blue truck.

Re: Junkyard finds

Hope some one saves the white truck from the crusher! My local junk yard crushed a 71 C10 with a nice Manual tilt column and factory AM FM!!Made a appointment to take the parts off on my lunch break.. When I got there they had crushed it already! Guy at the front desk said he forgot to tell the employee to save the truck for me..

Re: Junkyard finds

The white truck was still sitting out in front of the yard when I went by yesterday, it looks better in the pics. I think the wheel is toast in the blue truck, but will look if I go back. A couple being parted on CL locally here.
