1959 hand E brake

I am intalling my e brake cables but am unsure if it is a rod or a short cable that attaches to the hand lever. Can anyone please show me pictures of 55-59 hand brake under dash. Thanks

Re: 1959 hand E brake

I don't have photos but when I tore my truck apart for my subframe swap I specifically remember removing the metal ROD that attaches to the hand lever. It bolts to a fulcrum bracket on the frame that goes back to the e-brake cable bracket under the cab.
Is your frame stock? If it has been modified (like so many of our frames have been) the bracket that the rod goes to will be long gone.

but to answer your question, its a rod.

Re: 1959 hand E brake

If you swap to an IFS or clip, you loose the the lower rocker bracket. (A-Arm in it's place) We have a cable kit that connects from the O.E. brake handle, down to the O.E. lever on the chassis to solve this problem.
