Canada Trucks in US?
I just purchased a 1970 swb cst with factory bb, tach rear leaf springs and bucket seats. Very unmolested one owner truck that needs rockers and a few cosmetics to be super nice. Drove it 70 miles home at 65-70. Now to my question and yes I will post pictures later after I clean it up some. The title and the vin plate on cab both state made in Canada. Is this unusual? Seems like 1970 CST had said something about a strike in GM that year. Most of the trucks arond here are either Atlanta or Baltimore trucks. This is the first Canada truck I have ever ran across can anyone help?

I did not know how long the strike lasted, but it seems rare to find a Canadian built truck in WNC and it had lived here for its entire service life. We are a long way from Canada

all it takes is someone owning it to relocate from the great white north to your neck of the woods.
or when the original owner said he wanted a truck optioned like he wanted, that plant was the only one able to do it at that time for whatever reason or the canadian plant started working major overtime to make up for the slackers on strike and a whole truckload of thucks made the trip to that dealer. |

Gentleman a lot of vehicles that are built for the USA market are made in Canada. There is something from the 60's called the the North American Auto Pact which let USA built vehicles into Canada with no duties and Canadian made vehicles into the USA with no duties. I know they aren't Chevies but for example all the Crown Vic cop cars you've been looking at in the USA for the last 15/50 years or so have been built at the St. Thomas Ontario plant.
Since 1981 and the advent of the 17 digit serial numbers any serial number that starts with a 1 is built in the USA anything that starts with a 2 is built in Canada and anything that starts with a 3 was built in Mexico. Anything that starts with a 4 or more was built off shore. I'd like to see pics of your truck too!!!!

I knew about the truck but I also got a word of mouth heads up about it being seriously for sale Sat night, called Sunday am and went and made deal Sunday evening. Drove it home last night.
And yes that is another swb 4x4 truck behind dark olive truck, but I think it is sold locally so it doesnt count

The Spid does not mention canadian base equipment, but it starts with Paint and trim first then option numbers instead of like standard US trucks that list options then trim and paint.
