help on I.D. of front axle

Hoping i might be able to get a little help on this axle i just got. the guy that gave it to me belived it to be what he thought was a 50?? chevy truck. i have been trying to search via the matching numbers (24d204 or 24d2o4) i found on the front and rear of the main beam. with your help i hope to get it figured out so i can start a new adventure on either adapting disc or drums back to it and renewing other parts on it so i can use it on my new project.

thanks for all the help.

Re: help on I.D. of front axle

dwcsr--THANK YOU FOR THE HELP!

sorry to be vague on my question. i am new to this era of axle and was curious to know what it came from exactly so i can start finding the right parts to adapt to it to make it usuable. overall i will be useing it on a project i am putting together and just did not know where to start until i found out what type of axle it is, so that i might be able to find spindles/brakes/etc...that i can adapt to this, so that i can get it usuable.

what i would "like" to end up with on this axle is drum brakes or disc and a chevy 6 bolt lug pattern, this way i can match my donar 70' model chevy truck rearend i am using (as far as wheel bolt patterns).

what parts can i use to make this a usuable axle.

thanks for all the help!
