1973 C20 Heater Core Replacement! How To?

I've replaced one in my old Ford Bronco so I'm sure my 73 C20 shouldn't be a problem but thought I'd see if anyone had any horror stories I could learn from?

no surprise.. best bet, remove the dash.. 6 screws and slide it toward you.. i pulled my glove box prior but do not know if i had to.. with the dash off the heater core is sitting in your lap, no laying on your back and looking for screws.. mine apart getting new parts and paint.. heater core is fine, last time i lost one i used electric heaters and just the fan from the old heater,,, that was on an old 56 and 40 years ago parts were junk yard or the dealer..

No horror stories here. My non-AC, K-20 was pretty straightforward.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Non-A/C is easy, A/C involves finding hidden nuts/bolts below the firewall engine side A/C box. Use only copper replacement heater core. Having a flexible drive for your socket wrench, flashlight, and inspection mirror will help.
Haynes, Chilton, etc. have good write ups on this, or search for threads here - one something my defroster dilemma is excellent.

Also having an appointment with a chiropractor is a good idea to, that is after it's done.

Re: 1973 C20 Heater Core Replacement! How To?

Replaced mine recently, I have AC. It was quite straight forward, the only bolt that gave me a little headache was the one hidden under the fan/ac box on the left side close to the fender. I ended up taking the fender off, and when I finaly could see it I discovered that the bolt was sligtly bent and treads damaged. Once that was sorted everything else was easy.
What is wrong with the non copper cores? I never had any problem with them.
