Question What have you found that works?

My 72 I just got has a fastburn with the aluminum d port heads on it. The previous owner had begun installing and bolted up longtube headman headers. The thing is I plan to lower the truck with the 4-6 ECE or like type set-up. I was wondering what header would work and not be so low to the ground. Heck the header hang down really low already and it's not dropped yet.
My father uses the block huggers on his older street rods but I think they would get into the crossmember.... Any suggestions on what works would be great. I searched and found some stuff but most of those post are older. Any ideas?

Re: What have you found that works?

I have one suggestion for Sanderson anyone else? Is anyone running the fastburn or at least that style heads? I hope it's a good engine...

Something to check out would be headers made for a Chevelle.I have not tried them but a friend told me that they don't hang down as low as the ones made for a truck.

Red face Re: What have you found that works?

These are the two I was looking at... Anyone using this style header? Both are for d port angle plug heads. One set from Speedway and the black ones are Sanderson.

Re: What have you found that works?

The center dumps won't work due to the crossmember location. The Sandersons people suggest and the Chevelle-type are both 3/4 length. They will only work with automatic. I see people having full length headers that hang below the frame. I've never had them hang below the frame and don't have problems with 4/6 lowered truck ground clearance. The Headman Elites on my '72 K2500 sit up in the frame.

Maybe I will take a look at those then... Not sure what drop I want to do yet. I love the lowered look but the truck still needs to function and be able to haul a few things anyway. What is the part number for the Chevelle headers or the ones you use?

Thanks for your input

Re: What have you found that works?

I had hooker comps on a 69 short/fleet, had about 3 inch sag/drop in front. The headers hung down a tick, but probably noore than an onch or two. The front crossmember would smack the pavement before the headers (and it did hit a few times).
