Rear brake line question
I have a 68 rear coil swb which I plan to install a rear from a coil 72. Can anyone tell me the differences between the brake lines and brake flexible hose on the two? If I order new lines what year should I order them for, the 68 body or the 72 rear?
Any info is appreciated. Thanks. |

Order the 72 lines for the axle. Just make sure you know how the lines "junctioned" on the axle. Most 72's met at the pumpkin, but I have seen other that have a tab welded to the passenger side axle tube like my 71. You may check with Lost Wages, I think he still has a set of 72 SS lines for sale. Never used.

Thanks for the info. With regards to the rear brake hose, are they different? can I use the one on the 68 if in good shape? if different and I need a new one, which year do I order it for, the 68 body or the 72 rear?
Thanks again for the info! |

order the lines for the rear axle not the body. I have a new set of stainless rear lines for that rear end if your interested. They are from inline tube.

Lost wages, thanks but in looking at the pic someone posted a while ago for your lines, they appear to be for a pre 72 rear. As far as I can tell, and anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, the 72 has a bracket attached to one of the bolts of the rear cover. This bracket is for the junction box for the rear hose and brake lines connect. On my 68 rear the bracket is welded on the rear itself, passenger side, right where your lines would come together.
Wish I could use them but it doesn't look like they would work. |
