My new pickup
Just bought a '74 GMC, with a 350/350 combination. Needs a little work, but overall, very solid. PS,PB only. I believe the color is skyline blue. I'll do some maintenance housekeeping, but it may be a keeper.

Re: My new pickup
Nice truck! Nice original tailgate as well, those are fairly rare. I've only seen one in person.

Re: My new pickup
Wow it's nice to see that there are still some early square bodies that made it through the decades fairly unscathed! How about some shots of the interior?
What all do you plan for it?

New Blue
Been driving the wheels off it! One thing it needs is a speedo needle. For some reason, the original owner took the dash apart and lost the needle. It makes me crazy. Today, my plans are a good scrubbing and possibly pick up a set of rally wheels for it. I'd like a pair of van wheels for the front and 8" for the rear, but will settle for a full set of 8" wheels. Maybe a 3/4 lowering next month. Gave it a tuneup and will eventually install an HEI, mostly because I'm too lazy to adjust points. Interior pics later today. It is much more noisy than the '84 we sold earlier this year. There is no sound deadener under the rubber mat.

Nice looking truck, never see early one`s around here, and I have never seen one of those tailgates.

Re: My new pickup
It has been a busy week. Got a pair of 6.5" rallys for the front and a full set of 8" rallys, too. Next payday will cover new tires. Gotta look and see what Jonboy's truck has on it. That orange truck has "The Look" to me. Oh, and put a pertronix ignitor in it, so I don't have to adjust points.
Took the truck on it's first real roadtrip today. Just round tripped to the other side of Sacramento with the truck. I bought another '67 bug and flat towed it home. Averaged around 15mpg for the whole trip, which isn't bad pulling a bug for 200 plus miles. I enjoy my own company, but this thing needs some tunes. |
