Shortening a van tilt column

At one time there was a "how to" article with pictures about shortening a van steering column to fit a 67-72 truck. Anybody know where that article is located? It seems that we used to have a section for "how to's". Any help appreciated.

Re: Shortening a van tilt column

All I did was take the bottom part that telescopes and whacked it with a hammer if I recall. theres a little pin ( nylon? ) that will shear off. Then it's just a matter of getting the pieces adjusted to the right length.... Don't forget to check the position of the nuetral saftey switch. You will have to cut new spot for it. There is a write up for that relocation with good pics.

Re: Shortening a van tilt column

Here's the man and his thread that made it all possible for me and a few others to shorten ours.
It will mean that your NSS will be outside the firewall so I cut a new slot in my column for it which moved it back inside the cab.
