Another Interesting SWB 4x4
Went to see what was advertised to be an original paint '72 SWB 4x4 GMC Sierra. The truck is from Arizona and was 100% original paint and original body panels. The paint is worn through in the typical areas. It was missing a few original parts under the hood, but overall an unmolested nicely optioned SWB 4x4. See Pics! What do you guys think it's worth?

That looks like a great truck. I'm completely jealous. I'd grab it! Any rust?

Oh man, that's about the perfect truck; Got enough bed scratch that you could still use it as a truck without feeling guilty. I'd trade my brother for that truck.

Re: Another Interesting SWB 4x4
Very tough to put a value on that. I would say $15,000 to $20,000 maybe??

Re: Another Interesting SWB 4x4
Assuming everything is in good working order and original I'd put it over $10,000. My instincts say anywhere from $8,500-$15,000 depending on overall condition.

Re: Another Interesting SWB 4x4
I think estimates will be all over the place. This isn't a widget, or even a 1972 SWB 4x4 with 200,000 miles. It's fairly close to one of a kind. Generally the market place will determine a starting figure on price, you price it competitively, and it sells. In this case you could sell that thing 100's of times at $8,000, but I think it's worth much more. (I just picked $8,000, not knocking on Tim's post.) You price this one high, and wait for the right buyer.
Here is Randy's truck priced at $9,000. It sold, no idea how much, but the asking price at least gives us an idea. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...-kansas&cat=12 I think the truck pictured above it worth a fair amount more. If I could buy that truck for $10,000 I would really feel like I got an awesome deal.

Re: Another Interesting SWB 4x4
Looks strikingly similar to my old orange/white 72 Cheyenne 4x4 swb from Arizona. Mine brought about $22000 when I pulled it off eBay with a day or two left and with bidding at $17k and sold it for that $22ish #. That was 4 or 5 years ago. I still would have to believe this is a $18 to 24k truck with documentation. You can never duplicate a beautiful factory original survivor and such a rare truck to start with. Mark

I thought of you twice when I saw the truck. First I recalled your SWB Cheyenne with similar equipment (I think your truck was superior to this because it was a Chevy and Red). Secondly, this truck has a Saddle interior and could use the Saddle wheel I sold you earlier this year. Dan |

I wouldn't take less than $15K if it were mine. Good looking truck.

Nice GMC!
Observation: Are the mirrors "Below eyeline mirrors" as called out on the spid? Those look like '71 camper mirrors. |

I gave a general guesstimate based on "whatever" condition on any SWB K/10. A common mistake is to judge an entire vehicle on how great it looks in a couple of pictures. If it's as great as it appears it is worth no less than $15,000. I've looked at a lot of nice looking trucks that were all over the road, had shorts in the system, leaking gaskets/seals,etc. I believe Dantip knows what he's doing and it's probably safe to assume this is that rare original gem we seek. It may narrow the general playing field, but that truck being a GMC helps it's value over a Chevy. Fact is,they are way more rare and in this case very rare. If you prefer the original GM Truck then this is a precious gem and the rest can keep looking for a Chevy.

Re: Another Interesting SWB 4x4
Learn something everyday... So, my mirrors are wrong on my 72 4x4, ha! I have sports mirrors with the same spid call-out -"Below eyeline mirro ".
I agree, no doubt, 15K would be a starting asking price - again if it is what it is...

Re: Another Interesting SWB 4x4
Yes those are "Below Eye-Line Mirrors" The came in both white-painted and stainless. The West-Coast Mirrors use the same mirror head but larger supports for wider trailer towing. The standard mirror is the small "Sport" mirror and will not appear on the SPID.
