New wheels and caps on my '65
I finally got around to changing the wheels on my '65 from off the shelf chrome 15" 8 lugs to these stock 16.5" rims, and some caps from a '72. I repainted them in the vintage style, trying to mimic what I should but can't have on my truck because the originals for a 3/4 ton are too expensive, and too restrictive to what kind of rims you can have. Lemme know what you think, I think it really ties it all together for a more original look. I've include a before pic to show the difference.

Yes, I prefer the change.
I'd like to see a pic of the whole truck with this new look.

Re: New wheels and caps on my '65
66farmer-
No luck on finding a Custom Camper for a '65 yet...I find '66 all the time but nothing for '65. As far as I've found out, 16.5's are harder but not impossible to find, the tires on these rims have about 1,000 miles on them so they're practically new. Also, I only drive the truck maybe 2 days a month, so these babies will last forever. The ones I took off were almost 20 years old and look new. By popular demand, I took a couple of full shots of the truck for a better comparison. Gotta love the lovely PNW rainy days! |

Looks really good with the caps... brings the well kept nostalgia back to your truck. Nice ride sir.

Re: New wheels and caps on my '65
Awesome! Those look great! Where'd you get the '72 3/4 ton caps at? I just bought a '63 c20 that someone put a newer set of 8 lug 16" wheels on. Just needs some hub caps to get the original look back.

Re: New wheels and caps on my '65
Did you just repaint the center red? All of the '72 c20 caps I find are black and yellow in the middle.

Re: New wheels and caps on my '65
I actually got the caps off ebay..they were good drivers that I stripped the yellow off the bowtie down to bare metal, then masked off and painted the circle around the bowtie red.
