292 mounts vs 250 mounts

I know this has probably been covered already, but I figured why not ask anyways. Ok, I am looking at temporarily replacing my 292 with a 250, only because my 292 needs a rebuild and this is my daily driver. I know that the mounts are staggered on the 292 and in the rear position on the 250. I just bought a set of the 250 stands for $15 last night off of a board member, thank you fredm98. My question is are the mount brackets that bolt to the side of the block the same for 250 as the 292? It appears from pics that I have seen that the drivers side are the same but I can't tell about the passenger side. If they are not the same does anyone know where to get them? Thank you in advance.

I thought they were the same as far as the block mounts. But hopefully some one else will chime in and confirm.

Re: 292 mounts vs 250 mounts

Well I know that the stands are different, at least the passenger side is, so what I did was buy a set of 250 stands just to be sure. Now I am thinking that I may have to buy the block mounts.

Re: 292 mounts vs 250 mounts

on Rockauto.com they list the engine mounts as the same part number for both right and left side as well as for both the 250 and 292.

The stand is different on passenger side, but I think the driver side is the same as the 250.

I know the stands are different. That parts that are in question are these brackets, not the mounts. Will the ones on my 292 bolt on to the 250 and can they be used just the same.

Same here. I kept thinking those were a single unit that bolted to the block.

I will have to re-take the 250 passengers side in the morning. It didn't come out. The first two are the 292 and the third one is drivers side 250.

Re: 292 mounts vs 250 mounts

I know 4x4s [K-series] trucks had a special diagonally-rigged crossmember that was 292-specific. Which is why 292s in K/5s are so rare, I've never seen one. It's do-able but not factory. I have the parts for a future 292 K/5 project.
The engine mount pads [rubber/metal] are all the same, L6s or V8s. The "knee" like supports are different on the 292. One is shorter, I forgot which. I think the 292's passenger side is not the same as the 250's. Unfortunately I have little 250 L6 experience.

OK, the passengers side on the 250 is definitely shorter than the 292. The 292 is 5 3/4" versus the 250 at 3 1/2".

Thank you LockDoc, I can clearly see that there is a difference. Thank you for all your effort in posting the pics. Would you be interested in selling the 250 mounts??

Hey lockdoc I jus measured the passenger side of my 292 and it measures 3 1/2". In fact my 292 pass side mount looks just like your 250 pass side mount. Now is strange or what???
