talk about falling in the outhouse and come out smelling like a rose

this about the fellow that told me about my 65 GMC suburban that I got not to long ago. he orig put a deposit on it and then backed out and then told me about it. it was mounted on a 84 4 x 4 chassis. it was still reg in wa. as a 2 whl dr so he got nervous about it. it was orig adv @ 3,000. and I got it for 1250. very little rust on it but some rocker stuff.
he was still looking for a rust free suburban. well a couple of weeks ago he found one that was adv in Spokane and the guy told him it had no rust'. so he hitched up his trailer to his truck and started out for his 350 mi. trek. for the ferry both ways is 425.00 total for truck, trailer and himself. there and it was a rust bucket and you know what you want to do to that a/h.
But there was another one that was for sale in seattle, so off to seattle.. now the one from seattle was x military out of S.Cal. and the fellow that had used it all those years in the service managed to get it when he retired and he was going to fix it up. anyway he died and he left it to his son in seattle and hge stored it for 4 years and realized that he wasn't going to do anything with it so posted it on C/L where it was for about 2 months. there were spare parts and an extra complete supposedly 350; a 3970010 eng( a desirable block). it had been raised about 5" frt and rear but only on the solid spring mount frt and rear. rust free but a few dings. floors, rockers and inner fenders all good. it ran and he drove it around his yard. 283 w/65,000 mi. the guy asked him how much would he give him. Wade offer him a $1,000.. and he took it. Wde later felt that the guy may have taken as little as 2 or 300 just to get it out of his yard.
He had trouble bringing it across the border as they couldn't believe what he bought it for and was trying to pull a fast one.it took him about 3 hrs to get through customs
not a bad deal.
I may be getting that 283 and the 350 as he has a newer rebuilt 350 to put in it
ron
he also gave me a rust free l/f fender and rad support
