Which mufflers should I get?

I'm running Hedman 1 5/8 Headers on my engine. I'm going to run dual 2½" off of em', into a muffler on each side. My question is, which kind shold I get?
1.)Dynomax Magnum Race Mufflers
--
2.)Hooker Maximum Flow Mufflers
--
3.)Flowmaster 1-chamber Race Mufflers
--
I want my truck to sound BAD! Like a real rumbly sound, but not LOUD (if that makes sense) because I don't want the cops to look at me too much...(I think 100db if the maximum noise level for my year/weight truck)

I wouldn't stick another slowmaster on my truck if they gave it to me. Not but one muffler worth using, IMO.

Hooker Aerochamber.

those 1 chamber flow are gonna be ridicuolosly loud and sound like crap on a mild engine, they are basically gonna be like running open headers. they are for drag cars taht are in a class that requires somekind of muffler. if you want a flow go with the 40 series two chamber but even they are gonna be pretty loud. in my opinion its hard to make a motor sound really mean just by changing the mufflers, you can make it louder but if you want a meaner sound get a meaner motor. when i first put the flows on mine they weren't too bad before i had modded the motor, now they are ridicoulus. i'll be replacing them with either edelbrock rpm mufflers or borla 304 ss ones. i would put the aero chambers of 40 series flows on yours

I'm like Mike, I'll never buy another set of Flows. The Edelbrock's I have now are the best sounding one's I've had, they also perform better than the Flows did. I haven't had any experience with the Aerochambers but everyone here seems to love them. I'd look at getting one of those rather than the Flows.

Hey if you go with the edelbrocks let me know how they sound and perform. They are my second choice right now after the aerochambers.

Ive got a question too. Im going to run headers -> Y-pipe -> Cat -> Single 3 in. in and out muffler. Im still deciding between aero chambers, 40 series flows (wich I already have), and Edelbrock.

Are 40 series definitely going to be the loudest? Does anybody have sound clips of exhaust?

I have that exhaust setup right now. I'll take a clip in a little bit...it's the STOCK cat though...so it's kinda quiet.

Just get a Catco cat. They are like $50 from summit. They work wonders and are about 1/3 of the size of the stock cat. They are about 1/10 of the weight too

I'm running duals through an x-pipe and no cats, so would you still want a sound clip?

Yes, I'd like to hear a sound clip of an Edelbrock RPM muffler setup.

Ok Guys, here's a sound clip for ya.

Audio Clip

should be able to just right click on it and save it. I couldn't get it to convert to an mp3 so its a wave file instead. Its about 420kb, so it may take some a few minutes to get it.....sorry about that.

Matt:

That sounds great! But do those Edelbrocks have that drone sound at 2K rpm?

That sucks about the meet!!

Mitch: at about 2600rpm they get to making quite a bit of noise in the cab, but it may be they way my exhaust is run. Its like it just hits a certain note and drowns out everything. If I run above or below then its not bad, and they are much quieter in the cab than the Flows were. Other than that I wouldn't consider them really make a "drone" sound at any rpm but then I haven't really hear the truck a whole lot from the outside.

LOL.....its a Lunati Bracket Master II cam (300°/.515 lift), I don't think its quite as extreme as the 110CL if I remember right.

Dave, you're just gonna have to come through here on your way to get your hood. I wanna ride in that truck. I gotta hear those Aerochambers. I don't figure you'd be driving it to go get that thing but you can make an exception for me....
