Newbie from tn.

Hello folks, as a newbie I have lots of questions about my new project. I got a 65 c10 short step last week and it has a lot of rust and I want to change out the subframe assy. and upgrade to power disc front and drum rear. So my first newbie question is will a 75 c10 2wd be the right donor truck? also will I be able to use the booster and master off of the 75? Thanks in advance for all the help!

Greg

Welcome. Nice find, I got lucky with mine and someone had already done the hard work or swapping out suspension for me. I'm pretty sure they should be swappable but just like torker said, just have to drill some new holes.

Re: Newbie from tn.

Hey thanks everyone, I might have gave too much for it but you should have seen all the other ones that I looked at before I chose this one.
This one needs lots of metal work and I have never done any before, but I will learn how, one way or another. I just got through restoring a MGB and it turned out real good.
its good to hear from all of you folks and thanks for the encouragement.

Re: Newbie from tn.

Welcome to the forum Greg

Yes that '75 will work just fine as a donor for your '65. The '73-'87 are the most plentiful trucks to use for donors. In the FAQ thread at the top of the page, there is a thread titled 'Disc Brake Upgrade Reference Thread" that will tell you most everything you need to know.

Re: Newbie from tn.

Thanks Captain! and I know I will be ordering some brackets from you as soon as I get done with all the metal work. Yesterday and today I have been moving my compressor out of the shop and into the room I built for it many years ago. Funny how we put stuff off for so long. I just couldn't listen to that compressor run so much running the DA. Many thanks for the replies!
