I almost cried the first time my wife showed me that. Makes me want to find Dad's Camaro for him.

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
I kinda did something similar for my father with his 76 Malabu except I couldn't get the exact vin # being as he cut the car in half when he and my mother separated and it has long been through the crusher although he atleast has the 400sbc interceptor that was in the original and I was able to find one the same color and badge package that his was, now I just have to talk him into parking it long enugh to let me have a local bodyshop fix he rust before it gets any worse

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
DEAD SERIOUS, my mother and father bought the car together when they were still dating, after they broke up they bolth wanted the car and my mom wouldn't just let my dad buy her out so he cut the car from front to back rite down the center line dropped half off at my moms and scapped the other half, I was a little young to remember it all but remember the rumble of the old car and have seen alot of pictures, so needless to say my dad loved the car when I pulled the tarp off it on the trailer

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
my brother and I are looking at doing something like that for dads retirement but we are not going to go through the hassle of finding the exact car he had but We are going to get dad another 1960 impala that he sold when i was a baby due to him and mom being newlyweds with a small child and no money. Our thoughts are to get him just a running car though and let him build it how he wants i dont think his body can stand up to the stripped down hot rod of his youth anymore, plus if he has something to work on in his retirement mom might maintain her sanity for a few more years lol

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
Man, I would hate to try and buy back all of the cars I had as a teen and my immature adult period. I thought Muscle cars and hot rods would be around forever!!! I feel so bad about some of my cars I should be in therapy " cutting up a 57 chevy convertable for a stock car" I had the title untill I gave it to a friend 3 years ago. The list is way too long for me to go into detail.

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
I've often thought about getting a navy blue 36 Chevy business coupe like my Dad had in Oakland back in the 50's. maybe even build another GMC motor for it like he and Gordy did when they used to run it at the drags against the Fordillacs (and cleaned house I might add)

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
Its a cool story and the dad is a lucky guy. But the production quality of the video (very good) makes me think its all a reenactment. And that makes it look like just another commercial to me.

Re: I know this is a Truck forum but this is awesome
Maybe my son will do this for me when hes older and go out and get my 72 Cutlass back. I loved that car but thought I needed something different. Oh well, maybe someday. I've talked to the guy who owns it now but I can't afford it now, since I've had kids and all.
