Need help with trimming Inner Fenders on MII front end ('59 model)

Hello,

I'm trying to put this '59 together and realize the inner fenders don't like the MII control arms and towers. Does anyone have any pics of how they trimmed their inner fenders?

Jeff

Sorry the pictures aren't that good, thought i had some better ones.. but the main thing to remember is trim a little at a time until they clear the a-arms as it moves up and down... one of these pictures was taken from a '52 suburban and the other was a '50 chevy car.

When I did mine I made a template that fit over the A-arms and then transferred it to the inner fender.
parkwood is correct about cutting a little at a time. I had mine in and out about 4 times.
Sorry I don't have pics of it.
Kim

That would be the best way to do it. A guy should round the corners of the cutout too to help prevent cracks.
When I cut out the inner fender on the 48 to clear the Camaro A arms I made a mess out of it and those inner fenders are pretty well junk. The trim a bit at a time advice goes a long ways.

Not A arms but I had the same issue with steering column and ps lines. Like mr48 I made a template and gradully cut it. I used a small hole saw for radius edges, square cuts will lead to cracks especially in these panels that vibrate and flex a lot. Notice that the stock bottom "free" edge has curved transitions.
