1972 C20+10 Upgrade
Ok here we go day one of my 72's upgrade. The plans for this portion of the trucks restoration is converting it from a c20 to a c30 with help from a set of split ring rims from a 65 c30 and some stepside fenders. Im also step notching the frame for the axle flip and a air springs helper over the axle. for the towing im installing a 5th wheel reciecer on the step notch and a hidden hitch in the rear along with fully boxing the rear frame rails and setting up a rear fuel tank and driver side saddle tank to get the tank out of the cab... stay tuned!

Re: 1972 C20+10 Upgrade
Well... almost catastrophic failure on my part i started lifting the the truck with the lift and i guess the 402 is a heavy bastard cause my baby almost did a front flip lol, i ran my fat ass the to rear and jumped on the frame to bring it back down and had a friend hand me a couple of the wheels to weigh it down enough to put the jack stands under the front.

Re: 1972 C20+10 Upgrade
I wish my truck looked as good as yours. Do you have a photo of your rear bumper bracket and how it attaches to the frame? I just got a C20 myself and want to put a rear bumper on it but can't seem to figure out how to get the brackets to work on it.
Good luck with your conversion |

I hear horrible things about split rims... maybe someone more familiar with the issues will chime in...

Re: 1972 C20+10 Upgrade
Well the whole boxing and step notch i did with 3/16 plate and the cross bars are 2x3 250 wall, i had some custom "U" bolts bent the truck had 5/8 and i upgraded to 3/4 since the weight is gong to be supported by the them and the helper bags im putting over the axle, and the u bolt plate i bent with an Iron Worker and it 3/8 plate.
I tried to use most of all the mounting tabs shocks brake lines ect. for now untill i blow the truck apart to build it without a time restriction. not too bad for 10 days of 6 hours... enjoy, oscar
