Been trying to get the intermediate shaft out of my truck as its hitting the UCA with my porterbuilt crossmember. Need to get the suspension assembled so I can get the truck able to move around.

Searched, but was kina vague and left with me with more questions.

Someone said at the 67 and 68 steering shafts were one complete peice from the steering box all the way up to the steering wheel.

Is that true? Im working on a 68, and have a 67 sitting right next to it. Yet, the 67 has a regular bell kinda connection at the steering shaft with a bolt running through it like most any other GM trucks Ive worked on from various years....

Although, I started thinking about it and supposedly the PO added power steering to the 67.

The 68 looks completely different. For the record, Im trying to remove the intermediate shaft from a 68 truck, automatic column and factory power steering.

Does your steering column/extension look like this at the lower end of the steering column? If it does then the extension can be removed by disconnecting the rag joint at the steering box and then removing the clamp bolt on the connection of the extension to the steering shaft. Usually the clamp has to be tapped off before the part can be pulled off of the splines. I have not tried removing an extension with the column in the truck but there might be enough room.

No it doesn't. That's how my 67 looks. Not my 68 that I'm trying to get off

You have to remove your steering column. Someone changed the column on your 67 because it was the same as your 68 from the factory. WES

So the intermediate isn't removeable? That's gonna cause a problem with the steering linkage for my rack n pinion
