1987 R10 Antenna

Can anyone show me photos of the stock 87 antenna. I recently had my truck painted and the painter broke the antenna. I am having a hard time finding one that fits. Right now there is a round hole in the fender a little larger than a quarter. The hole is on the top of the fender.

Its funny I never took much notice of the antenna prior to it being broke.

Re: 1987 R10 Antenna

For an '87? Mine has the antenna in the windshield.

I think maybe somebody put an 88-up setup on your truck.

At any rate, the base is a small rectangular block with a plastic cover; the mast portion has a hex on the bottom and a small round ball on top.

There should be several million of 'em out there ; we used to use them as pointers in the conference rooms.

Re: 1987 R10 Antenna

Dont mean to hijack this, but I originally had the antenna in the front passenger fender but when I restored the 1984 GMC 3500, my body guy suggested buying a windshield with te antenna in it and thats what I did. Truck has stock AM/FM radio but the reception isnt the best.. Maybe i should check the antenna wire in the back of the radio.

Re: 1987 R10 Antenna

yea I kinda figured the front has different. I picked up a rectangle set up with three screws..... is this sound right?

any place to get the antenna wire extension sections. The antenna i picked up has a short wire(from junkyard).
I need a 3 foot section to go into the cab and to the radio.
