Keep the front trim??
Ok I have a decision to make. I will be replacing the front fenders and hood and I want to know what you guys think about the front trim. At first I was going to take it off and go with the clean look but now that I removed it I kinda think it looked better with it on. Tell me what you think.
With.. Without..

Re: Keep the front trim??
I say keep it, since it highlights the cool 67/68 grill.

Keep it, I'm even thinking of doing the lower molding on the sides also.

Re: Keep the front trim??
What got me thinking about removing it was that I like the Mark's looks. But for some reason on mine it just looked better with the trim. Mark's just looks so clean without it. I just don't know yet...Guess it depends on the color.

Re: Keep the front trim??
In your trucks current state, I say keep, but after replacing what we see, it might be different! The only thing I don't like about trim is it's amplifies when panels don't lined up nicely.

Re: Keep the front trim??
I think unless you're going for a restomod look with everything shaved, I'd keep it. I'm a chrome fan and always have been. The more the better I say!

keep it. if finishes off the front of the vehicle. on a 67 it looks ok without the sidemarkers but on a 68 you have to have it.

Re: Keep the front trim??
Heres my two cents. I only like the trim when the grill area is white, with the only exception being on a light colored truck like yours. Otherwise, it breaks up the lines of the front end too much on anything darker than white.
For example, on that orange truck you posted above, I dont think the trim would work. It would be to much. Now if the grill area was white on that orange truck, then the trim would work. Can you tell I've spent some time thinking about this?? The below picture is a good example, the trim serves to breakup the orange and white. Without the white grill, the trim is really not needed. With that said, I think you should ditch it and sell it to me! Last edited by jlaird; 11-21-2011 at 05:22 PM. |

Re: Keep the front trim??
Now that's the funny part. The trim was not in that great a shape anyways, would have to be replaced either way. But when I removed it every single one of the hood bolts broke off, so now I am stuck with it until I buy replacements. So if you want to buy it let me know

Re: Keep the front trim??
I would have said keep it , but your 68 has no side trim , making no trim look good. I say ditch it , and , x2 to sell it to me!

Re: Keep the front trim??
I had talked myself into shaving mine off, until I kept looking at pics of shaved trucks and decided I still like the chrome pop!

Re: Keep the front trim??
Here's an option to compare: No top trim, with painted grill trim & light surrounds. Please excuse the dirty & dusty-look. This was the day I sold my truck, & just grabbed some more quick photos before it ran away from home forever.

Re: Keep the front trim??
Why?
Good decision on keeping it. *If* I ever get my fleet bed ready to put on my 67 it will have all the CST trim. Nose, tailgate, and side.

Re: Keep the front trim??
Yeah I am thinking of doing the side and rear trim as well. The side trim is the best of all the years in my opinion.

Re: Keep the front trim??
I will eventually be replacing the front fenders due to the fact that they both have their share of bondo. The hood because the front lip has some rust through. Just some thin lines but rusted through.
