Mirror Vibrations.

I have the low mount tripod mirrors with 7.5 by 10.5 mirrors. once i get going about 25-30 miles per hour they vibrate and shake badly. i have tightened them up bt just dont know how to solve the problem. i was thinking if i could maybe mount some 5x7 mirrors on instead it would help.

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

Just curious, are those aftermarket? They don't look factory.....if so, that could have something to do with it.

I used to have the below eyeline mirrors (similar but not same as yours). Its been a long time, but I don't remember having vibrations...certainly not at those low speeds. Mine were factory....but the heads were broken at various times along the way, and now I don't have any side mirrors! What a pain!

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

Beautiful truck. It's probably trying to tell you something.

Mine used to have some really big mirrors that also vibrated and I got rid of them and went back to the original "peep" round mirrors. For my purpose they are okay since I have no problems viewing all around with all the glass. I know for hauling a big mirror is necessary but I just never have cared for them.

Certainly not me! I have been looking for the last few weeks, and have come up nearly empty.

Wes from Classic Heartbeat (a vendor on this board) has some that appear to be about the same mirror head as yours, but I think the brakets are different from yours. I have been looking at a lot of these mirrors lately, and haven't seen brackets like yours before.

Good luck.

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

I think I have found a solution. Lmc sells the same brackets but have a different arm on them to mount 5x7s so I will buy those brackets from lmc and some 5x7 mirrors from them and I'll let you know how it goes.

Be careful what you wish for. Mine are rock steady but they scream like a banshee from about 35 on up.

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

I have been told by a very sharp board member that the original mirrors don't vibrate, the aftermarket one's do...

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

Searching for the 7.5" x 10.5" below eyeline mirrors for husband's 1969 C10. The SPID says they were an added option. It has dinky little peep mirrors now that look wrong on a 8ft fleetside where the heck do I find them?

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

The pair of aftermarket I had were horrible. Shook so bad they were completely useless. I can't tell you where to find them but i can tell you what to look for. If the top leg is only a thin strap keep looking. That is one place for them to vibrate. After you find a mount that looks good then look at how big the swivel ball is on the back of the mirror. Ideally larger than the kind with the cheap strap mount and screws to help tighten the ball once adjusted.
I went to the small square sport mirrors and they are ok. Not great but ok. Although your visibility is limited.
If you can find a good pair please share with the board because I couldn't find any old threads of happy customers. Hopefully someone has found a good pair and and chime in.

Re: Mirror Vibrations.

this came up a couple of days ago on another thread. Mine shook so bad they would pivot back to the truck. I think it is from the threaded insert loosely crimped inside the SS sleeve. I'm going to try to weld it, and will let you know if that helps. (Just don't hold your breath! )
