This is driving me crazy. I bought my father-in-laws 1984 Chevy Silverado and only has 75,000 true miles on it. You can turn the radio on and it may come on or not. Then turn it on again and works great and just sitting in the drive way it may stop playing. Going down the road it may all of a sudden come on again. I bang on it and eather stays on or off. I can trun it on in the drive way and plays fine. Then turn it off and try to turn it back on and nothing. Does anyone have a clue?

when it goes off, if the light dies, power is going open.. if the light stays on, the speakers are going open.. i would bet 50 cents that the ground lead, going to a bolt under the dash is loose.. find the black wire, tighten it down, fax me half a buck..

I will check this out and if that is the problem I will have .50 here waiting for you because I do not have a fax that will send a 50 cent coin. :-)

when where you in country?.. if you can't fax coins, can i stick them in the slot on my pc and send them that way?

Sure you can. I was in Nam 65-66. BIG RED ONE from Fort Riley, Kansas. (Search and Destroy Missions) By the way, it is really hard for this old man to find that ground wire. It is really strange. You can go out to the truck one day and the radio will come on and go out again another and it will not. I will just have to have someone to check it out. Thanks, John

forgot to mention that the little copper strip broke in my plug before i bypassed it

The radio needs to come out anyway. I went out to check in the dark and the bulb behind the dial is not working. Need to also replace that. Thanks
