Interior colors

I have a 1960 Suburban and am researching the interior paint. I know about the Fawn Metallic color as the main color. Are there any other accent colors?

I have some original brochures and it shows a darker color within the door panels and down the sides in the back. Any fact behind this or was it just sales brochures?

Was the steering wheel and column also Fawn Metallic?

Glove box door?

Re: Interior colors

Yes the center of the door panels, and the recessed panel on the sides to the rear were a darker color. I'm not sure if it was a dark gray or black.

Re: Interior colors

It's a little money to spend , but has loads of information for your year.
The Data Book has a lot of information like accessories, specs, dimensions, colors etc.
The Custom Accessories booklet has a list of what was available and illustrations.
The Custom Feature Accessories Installation book is also handy to have, lot's of illustrations for you to memorize.

Did you know that 1960 Chevrolet truck was the only year with a full hubcap! It used the hubcaps from a 56 Chevrolet passenger car.

Didn't know that! Now I need to find the silver and charcoal paint numbers.

I ordered the 1960 dealer truck book mentioned above. With 350 pages, it must have some good information.

I found this "Over the past several weeks we've research the living hell out of the old codes for the GMc interior Silver Fawn Metallic. The only true code we could find was a Dupont Number, which crosses over to a DIAMONT brand Paint WA7134 it's so close that I will assume the difference is due to having the paint on the glove box 49 years old and has faded a small bit." on the FAQ site.

That looks like the answer to 60-61 silver, but I still need the charcoal color.

Re: Interior colors

I'm sure everyone already knows about TCP Global's site and when I looked for 60 and 61 nothing turned up. But 62 has interior codes for ditzler which show some silver and charcoal colors. http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorli...truck-pg02.jpg

Re: Interior colors

Did some more research and the 1960-61 interior is:

Charcoal - DUCO 73605 (Dupont DS174)
Silver Metallic - DUCO MM313 (Dupont 94162)

The DUCO numbers came from an old book that listed the interior colors at the paint store for Chevy trucks. The Dupont numbers are what they convert to.

Re: Interior colors

I tried the Charcoal Dupont DS174 and it's not close to the correct charcoal color. It's more of a medium gray. See the picture below for what it turned out to be. So, if anyone can help with the correct charcoal color for the 60-61 trucks, I'd really appreciate it!!!

The fawn was not in use until 62-66. The 60 and 61 should be silver and charcoal. I just don't know what the paint codes are for the 60-61.
