lookin for tips on doin my wood bed cheap

so most of the wood is good like 2 of the metal strips are messed up Im wonderin if it would be easy to go to a junkyard and get the wood pieces I need and the strips I have damaged for some better ones and sandin it all down and stainin it and paintin the metal is it verry dificult has anyone done this just lookin for tips on easiest way to do this is all the wood the same dimensions from the factory is my biggest concern first time doin all this im learnin as I go and would rather not mess somthin up if I can get away with it also is there a cheap way of doin power steering on this someone told me I could get power steering box from a 70s dodge and it bolts up only gotta drill one hole anyone know about that thx for the help

Go to Mar-k's website, they have all the information for cutting your own wood, it shows how wide, how deep the groove is and how wide the edges are. Go down to your local lumber supplier and buy some #2 or #3 pine 1" x whatever is the closest width, throw it on the table saw and make your own wood. I did my whole bed for $56.00 not including hardware, and it came out pretty good. Kieth

Wood workers regard 1" planned as 5/4". Because it takes a 1 1/4 inch thick rough board to plane it down to an inch.

I got strips from mar k and got wood from local home depot, used father-in-laws table saw and dado blade and did mine.

Well there's "CHEAP" which would be free plywood and "INEXPENSIVE" which is what everybody else is telling you to do.
