What fits behind our seats? 2 10's or 2 12's?

I don't plan on putting the amp back there. (I'll put that under the seat.) But my question is...can I fit a decent box for 2 12's behind my seat, or should I stick to 2 10's? I want some decent thump...enough to give me a nice back massage.

Well, depends on wat u want lol. I just made a custom box that will hold 2 6x9s, an amp in the middle, and 2 12's. So i can almost garenntee you that u can have 12's lol. The box i made cost me about 30 bucks. If u want i can give you some measurements on it, and maybe some pics if u want to build a box? Hope this helped...

who needs 2 10's my buddy just put 1 10" vega in the back and pounds like hell better than any combo of 2 12"'s ive heard its all in how your box is built i recomend takin it to a stereo shop that has computer programs for this

Oh yeah he is right. If your box blows theres no use in getting a sound system haha. Thats wat i did kinda. Got on my CAD program and worked it all out. Sealed it up really good. Man even 2 8's would sound good in the right box lol. The only reason i did my own box is b/c i like building things custom, kinda a cool addition

Anybody ever heard any Bazooka's in our trucks? If so, how did they sound? I'm thinking about putting (2) 6 1/2"s behind the old bench.

It really depends on how tall you are I have a buddy that was so short that he could fit four twelves behind the seat of his 87. I on the other hand have to have the seat all the way back and would not be that lucky. And I'm with the other guys, build the box right or you might as well not even try. i run 2 10s and amp. it moved the seat forward an inch or two and took a bit getting use too, they hit decent.

(2) Kenwood (700w) 12's in Q-Logic Boxes:


I love these speakers and boxes. Sounds great and no problems.
But the boxes are kind of big and if your tall and have a bench seat you may not want to use these. Im 5'-9" - 5'-10" and have no problems with the seat moved up a notch or two from all the way back. I used to have 10's but they didnt produce the bass I wanted so I got these 12's. I know I could have gotten some really nice ($$) 10's that would have done what I wanted, but this route was cheaper.

Those are (2) boxes. They are not attached to each other in any way. I bought them from www.thezeb.com. They do not currently show them on their site. I went to http://www.qlogic.ws/2003/home/ and couldn't find the exact same either. They may have just changed them. Anyway Ill try to check tonight on the part/model # and post tomorrow. They were $70 each and are very high quality boxes. I owned a pair before and had them for years before they were stolen . Had to go back to what was good.

(I have all the wiring in their already, just need the deck, amp and subs; I used to have 2 MTX 8's behind my seat in high school and my shlit POUNDED!)

I went to school with a guy that was short enough he had two 15's behind his seat. I rode with him once, had a hell of a time getting comfortable. He had a different bench in there too, I think that had alot to do with the clearance he had. He busted his side windows out of that truck, damn that was a loud stereo. I thought it was overkill for the amount of cab space he had. Oh by the way he wasn't in the truck the time he busted out the windows, he was at a local stereo competition, in the bed, with his remote.

Man, I'm 6'2" and with the seat all the way back I find it a little cramped, a smaller steering wheel should fix that.

I just want to get my 2 6x9s and a single sub back there...but I don't want to move the seat up at all.

Ok here are the dimensions of the box. Remember there are two boxes at these dimensions.

These Q-Logic boxes are real nice. The face board is thicker then the rest which allows the speaker to seat almost flush with the box. The grilles are also nice and help stop rubbing on back of the seat. The inside of the box also has a plastic cup which is set into the back board, this plastic cups gives you an extra 3/4" of so for deeper speakers. These are quality boxes all the way.

I had 2 10" dual voice coil Image Dynamics subs with 2 Xtant amplifiers all mounted nicely behind the seat of my '84 C-10. The Xtants were mounted vertically which was no biggie because they had built-in temp control with fan cooling. My seat, which was aftermarket, would go back almost all the way--maybe one click from all the way back.
I still have the box with the subs if anyone's interested. It's made of HDF, I believe and built like a tank. Sealed enclosure--the subs would be behind the driver and middle of the seat with the amp mounting behind the passenger. LMK if interested! Heck, I think I still have both amps somewhere also.
