Re: solid roller cam question

My buddy runs a 630/630 lift full roller in his 408. He drives it an hour one way to where he grew up. He has a 390 rear gear and about a 28 inch tall tire.

Re: solid roller cam question

I second that. I'm running a solid roller in my 408 that has 268/272 666 lift @ .050. running 4:56's with 28" tall tire. I drive to the coast for car shows and 84 mile round trip to the track and back. I'm running shaft mount rockers, I'm sure that helps with valve train stability also.

Just double check your valve springs are up for the task.

Re: solid roller cam question

So it's a non 1 piece rear main. If its a one piece rear main it takes longer lifters. You also might need the re-inforced timing chain cover for the button and different distributor gear.

Re: solid roller cam question

You might take a look at the nice cast aluminum cover that Cloyes makes for roller cams. It makes adjusting the cam end play much easier. That is what I will be using next time. It isn't cheap, but well worth it IMO.
