Finally i have one... first project, a '70 SWB and new member intro PICS
Well, I have finally joined the 67-72 family with a truck of my own. I have wanted one for as long as I can remember- as some of my best memories were of my dads two 72's... His first (a c-20 4x4) was tradically stolen in '96 only weeks after finishing an entire frame off... His second was a Cheyenne 4x4.
I found this '70 (i know it has a 71/72 grill....) c-10 SWB about an hour from my house on craigslist during my lunch hour and in a moments decision decided to grab my trailer after I got off from work to go get it. Its not in very good condition, but it is a decent starting point for a project. It wasnt completely assembled, nor was it even complete. I spent the lasts couple months putting the truck back together and buying 100,000 miscellaneous parts to make it a driver. Of course I have big plans for it, but those are going to be a few years out. My Fiance and I are getting married in 10 months, she is finally graduating college after 8 years, and my new business is just starting to get some traction which is keeping us busy. But even as the truck is now, I still grin ear to ear when i drive it. Most people see an old piece of crap, but I see the beginnings of my dream truck.... This was the truck when i first got it I got an engine and trans put in it. its just a good 'ol 350 and TH400 I put a new wiring harness in it. The seat was the nicest part of the whole truck. I still have a few more things to accomplish. Over the winter ill get bumpers, the front markers, a tailgate etc.... my dads '72 cheyenne back in the late '90's my fiance and I |

Re: Finally i have one... first project, a '70 SWB and new member intro PICS
welcome and congradulations on the truck and the inpending marriage. I hope you find all the information on here you need when you run into a snag in your project. There are a lot of guys on here that really know their stuff about these trucks and life in general, and are usally willing to lend a hand or give advise. I think you have a really nice truck with loads of potenial. I live in Arkansas I have a body shop and sell and rebuild late model cars, trucks and SUVs. I also restore some older stuff like these trucks and mucle cars. I have been in business since 1987 and there are lots of ones on here that I value their opinion. So once agian welcome. Jim

I'm still a rookie here. Welcome! You are off to a good start. My project is a 68 LWB CST. These trucks are a lot of fun, even though I cuss ("curse" if you are not from the south) at mine quite a bit.

Nice! Welcome to the forum from North Texas!
We can tell you have put alot of work into it. It is nice to see another truck put back into service. Hopefully, it will provide you with a whole lotta enjoyment for many years. What ever happened to the truck of your dads that was stolen? Keith |

I've belonged to a few forums and this one is BY FAR the most respectful. A lot of kind and generous people. I finished restoring my gauge cluster the other night... I powder coat as a hobby. I built my oven (its 4'x4'x6' inside) so i'll be powdercoating everything i can. The only thing that wont fit is the frame, so i'll have that done when the time comes... Here is a quad that i powder coated cany blue and black. My dad built the swing arm, control arms, rear subframe etc... JRE, i just checked out the Oregon section of the board. I'd be down to meet you guys next month. I'll keep my eyes out for a date that works. |

Welcome from NJ. Looks like a nice truck you have there. Congrats on the truck and also congrats on your future marriage. My fiancé and I are getting married next July. I certainly know what it's like to try to build a truck and plan a wedding. Good luck with everything.

Nice project. So many people see a parts vehicle in something like that. I enjoy the piecing together and the road to the end. Good luck, looks like you are doing a fine job.

Nice work on the powder coat. You might could get a few jobs out of this place. I keep looking at your dad's truck. What size lift did he put on the truck? Tire size? It sit's just right.
