What's it worth?...1988 GMC 3500

*7.4L 454
*"runs, but could use a good tune up" (that's the description)
*needs a new battery...gauges work occasionally...no A/C

I might look at it in the next couple of days and wanted to get an idea of what to look for and common problems with this year. I searched, but didn't find a whole lot. I'm usually hanging out in the older forums for my 69 short/step.

I've owned both an 88 and 89 so i know the gauges tend to just stop working. usually a cluster swap clears things up. unless theres an underlying problem. as far as mechanics I have zero complaints with any of the 350's I've owned. however I'm assuming this is a 454 truck. i had a 3/4 ton 92 with a 454 no complaints other than gas mileage. by no AC do you mean its not an option or it doesnt work? all in all it looks fairly clean, a little rough but its well within the restorable/drivable boundaries. judging by pic. not sure on a price because prices differ from the lower 48 and Alaska so much. I'd say around 800-1000 maybey 1200 but that might be a little high.

Yeah...it has a 454 in it. I don't know about the A/C. I was going to talk to him about it when I looked at it. I don't need this. Somebody please talk me out of even thinking about it. I don't want my wife to kill me so close to the holidays lol

I love figuring out the real meaning of used car ads. Here's what I think this one really says...

*"runs, but could use a good tune up" - Really means, "I've tried to make it run better but can't figure out what's wrong with it and have given up."
