I found another today.

I found a 70 GMC on CL. Texas truck, supposedly minimal rust, no motor, needed some work. I drove up tonight in the scooby to check it out.

70 GMC custom, LB.

Re: I found another today.

The truck is ruff looking wise. There is no motor. It has 5 lug front disc and 5 lug drum rear. (did 70 have 5 lugs?)
frame is very nice.
bed is in pretty rust free shape, but has some dents.
hood is nice.
drivers fender and inner fender are good.
pass fender is junk
bumper is junk
grill is junk
The cab is workable, the floor good, needs rockers, one cab mount, cowl is very solid, the roof needs some spot repair, i found 1 hole on the pass side drip rail, and there is spotty places on the top of the windshield.
I paid $500 for it. He was in a ruff spot, and needed to sell it. I didn't really want to pay that for it, but i think i did ok. And i also told him i'd remove the motor (the factory 396) and run it back to his storage unit. He was thinking he'd use a tripod in the grass to get it out. I didn't want him to destroy what was there.

Re: I found another today.

I think you did good on it! Even a kinda clean truck must be hard to find up there. And correct, no 5 lug in 70.

Re: I found another today.

Yes, I'm keeping the PS bracketts and pump assm, alt bracketts. There were no AC bracketts, they had been removed, but the condenser and stuff is still there.

I'm probably going to sell off some of it. I used my xmas money to buy it. lol don't want to upset the kids. lol

Good luck Bro..and be careful. Forecast doesn't look too bad.
I made a 75 mile suicide run in my 67 Slant Back to pick up a good 67 cab just to show off.

Re: I found another today.

Looks good. Heres a story that will make you feel better about the gas. Two weeks ago I went back east to get two vehicles that my dad had left me when he died. I had to fly in, buy a trailer, and drive them over 2,300 miles. 800 bucks for gas alone!

My fiance and i drove 500 miles round trip to get my cab in CT, left and 5am, got there at 10, 3 hours to get the cab off the frame, got home at 7pm, fed and walked the dogs, them drove 58miles to her daughters high school championship football game (shes a cheerleader) were there 1 quarter (man we were late) then 58 miles home buy 1130pm.

That was the longest day i think i've ever had on the road.

You'll have to explain which one, or post a pic. Most of the grill on this truck is shot.

Re: I found another today.

Ok, so looking at it in the sun today, the cab is pretty bad, the roof is junk, the floor has some spots. I'll probably just cut it up.
And I found 2 spots on the wheel. Lol
Pics to come.
