Re: 12 digit vin?
thanks for that its good info. the Vin on my registration doesn't fully match that... it does in some ways, but for one thing there is no letter "plant" designation. tonight when I get home I'll compare to vin on the cab...lol hopefully they are the same.

Re: 12 digit vin?
Is the "letter" for the plant a zero? 0, or "O" is for the oakland plant, which for some reason was omitted from that first chart.. we have it figured out on page 4!
since you are in wa, there is a good chance that you have an oakland truck.

Re: 12 digit vin?
when I called the insurance company my vin gave them the correct details when they pulled it up... '61, 1/2 ton, etc. so I'm not concerned, just curious

Re: 12 digit vin?
might the 6 be an "s" for stlouis?, and been mis-written on the paperwork?

Re: 12 digit vin?
no, for some reason the L was replaced with a 6.....
too much else is the same for it to be a swap... and as we noticed, that spot should be a letter. I would check with a dmv in your state, without giving them too much info, explain what is going on.. you have a 61 chevy truck, that digit is supposed to be a letter (L), not a 6, all the other digits are correct, they can probably send a uniformed officer to re-inspect the vin and sign off on it, at worst you might have to bond the title, but since you have it, there is no worry of losing your bond.. that is how it would work here in mt, not sure if it will be the same in wa. ....

Re: 12 digit vin?
also curious that the "L" is the sixth plant down... wonder if the new car dealer and the dmv in 61 were assigning the plants #'s for the title for some reason.

Re: 12 digit vin?
ha, I don't know how my brain did it, but last night I looked at those two vins and saw two different numbers, not just the L and 6.... geez.. must have been a long week! thanks for your help though, that makes a lot of sense. and yeah I think you're right, especially with the 6 vs L thing, would be interesting to see if anyone else has a similar vin scenario just for confirmations sake.
