Poll
Ok with my Suburbasarus project I have some options for extending the travel range between fuel stops.
Currently I have a factory 21gal tank (or something like that). There is room to add an aux tank behind it or go with 1 or 2 saddle tanks along the frame. I could also get a custom tank made that goes behind the rear axle in place of the factory tank and would net me around 40+ gals. And just so you know I am not a fan of jerry cans. My thoughts are that 2 tanks & 2 fill points gives me the option of having a known quality fuel tank and then always add suspect fuel to the other tank....such as when in Baja. That way if I have engine trouble I can switch tanks and see if that helps. Oh I am used to using valves and such to switch tanks. Of course 1 big tank is simple, but it puts a lot of wgt in 1 place (behind the axle). All thoughts welcome. |

Sounds like you like multipul tanks..I went with the 37gal www.NWMP.com tank. The price has shoot too the roof over the years sence I bought mine but it's been a great tank. There is a facotry 31 gal GM tank you may beable to swap? I forget the year when GM moved from 21gal too 31?

Re: Poll

Re: Poll
I would go with option 4. Swap to TBI fuel injection to help with durability, performance and fuel economy and at the same time swap in a ’87 –’91 Suburban tank which will provide more fuel capacity and already have an electric fuel pump in it to feed the TBI. I already mentioned my feelings of carburators. You just can't polish a turd

Re: Poll
You lose some ground clearance and things with side tanks. And you can't add sliders. I thought about adding a marine tank at one time. Just a thought.
