No Start! 12V+ at the coil, but no spark...

Well, again, my truck doesn't wanna start. I checked and I have full 12V+ going INTO the coil, but I don't have any spark coming OUT of the coil...would my coil be bad, or just the connections came loose? I mean, I was just driving it last night, why would it all of a sudden be bad this morning??? I think I'm just gonna go get a new coil and swap it in...would anything else be causing me problems?

If it's HEI I would suspect the control modual before the coil. There is a ground strap that goes under the coil that sometimes will corrode and cause a bad connection as well.

Actually, I pulled my coil and checked the resistance between the Ignition Lead and the Tach Lead...the resistance is SUPPOSED to be less than 1ohm...when I tested it, I got 3ohm's. Also the resistance between the Tach Lead and the Coil Output Point is supposed to have Infinite Resistance..I tested it and had NO resistance!

Module usually is the problem over coil., but not always.
Does your truck have the ESC (Electronic Spark Control) distributor?
If so I say you scrap that POS.
I had nothing but problem after problem with mine.
I replaced countless coils and modules and other parts, it was nothing but a nightmare. It worked at random, very strange. It would start in the afternoon but never in the morning.
I say next time you get a chance and money you get rid of the stock distr. and get something else. I didnt have much cash so I went with the Proform for about $150-$160 and its been great to me. If you have the money though, why not get the MSD?

Just my thoughts!

Good luck!
