Attn:Keith Seymor/80 Sport--Need Shock Info

Anybody on this board can certainly help me besides the above two
named. Thanks in advance.

Trying to get some NOS Shocks for my 77 Sport. Bought my truck new
with Sport option 9J8 along with F44 H/D Chassis and F51 H/D shocks.
I changed shocks on it years ago (really don't know why) and can not
remember what the original ones looked like. Where they the spiral shocks
as seen on Camaro's? What color where they? Gray? If I can't find any
NOS ones may have to buy newer ones and paint them to look original.
Part book shows GM#22012240 Front and #22012409 Rear if I'm reading
the book correctly. Group #7.345. Larry

Both of the numbers you have look to be correct for that truck, given it's options. They both superceed to new numbers...

Front - 19167562
Rear - 88945298

Both are still available from GM.

Hopefully this helps....

Any idea if these new ones look anything at all like the original ones?
Thanks; Larry

Larry, I am not 100% sure, but I am betting they'll be a different color. I am thinking they will come in black. To be sure you got the correct color ones you'd have to get the part numbers you have listed, but those are LOOOOONG gone.

i will check color and appearance next time i check on it ...I think they are black and smooth but that is just from memory

Patience, grasshopper. You been reading about the Chevy Volt in the papers? Guess what I've been working on....

Now -regarding shocks - my recollection is that they are black and smooth, but I didn't start until 1979. I don't recall what they were like on our '75, since we normally replaced them with a Gabriel immediately after we lowered the truck.

Re: Attn:Keith Seymor/80 Sport--Need Shock Info

Thanks for all the responses. Will keep on researching. My guess is that
they where smooth and not spirals. Plan on getting the truck judged with
the AACA in the future. Of course they judge only originals and you must
be 95% original or above.FYI Larry
