Any suggestions for cleaning up/restoring the bowtie?

I did the one on my C20 by taking it apart, polishing the chrome and then I used the Krylon Fusion paint designed for plastic to repaint the bowtie. It looks really nice and has lasted quite well.

Most of the paint was gone but now that I think of it, I painted the front side instead of the back. It gives a nice smooth bowtie and I like the way it looks. I imagine gently scraping the paint off would work too. I had forgotten that I painted the front side....

Lemield: Painting the front was a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Mine has some nasty gouges too deep to polish out. How about a photo?

Now that I look at it again, those aren't gouges, they're deep fractures under the surface. No way to help those kids. I guess I'll paint the front. Thanks for the idea.

If you soak the plastic in Purple cleaner for a couple hours, all silver and blue will come off. Dont soak the metal part.

Lemield: That looks great, I'm going to do that. I'm having all kinds of fun today cleaning up my "new" eggcrate grill. I'll have it all glued up tonight, and paint it maybe tomorrow. That thing is gonna be a serious PITA to paint.
