Re: few pics of my new brake booster

Please, please, Give the details on how you went about adding the hydro boost.. Looks like it's going to be a spring time project for me... Also looks like no captin fab bracket, right?

Re: few pics of my new brake booster

Nice looking setup...

Is there a reason why this same type of master couldn't be used in a non-power drum/drum set up providing it has a 1" bore?

Re: few pics of my new brake booster

the bracket mounts the hydroboost upside down which is great for routing the hoses and it still works just fine

Re: few pics of my new brake booster

I'm very interested in the way you installed this system. Please give use more details. I just picked up the same booster.
After installing the booster how do the brakes feel.

If you are wanting a dual reservior drum/drum master, all you need is one for a '67-'70 pickup with manual brakes.

Cool project!!!! I can't wait to see how you routed the lines. When I get my truck to the point I will most likely add hydro boost as well.

66farmer, the difference is like night and day, the steering is unaffected, they are a little touchy but i like it that way and best of all there are no worries about not having enough vacuum

Thanks for adding more pictures. I have a few more questions.
1. What steering pump did you use.
2. How did you attach the booster rod to the brake pedal.
3. The Astro booster I have had a reservoir did you plug that off.
4. Were do the lines go. (Like pump pressure to inside booster port and so on)
5. Do you have a phone number or web address for company that you got the booster bracket I could't find it.

Thanks for posting this you did a verry clean job.

1. i used a steering pump from a 2006 yukon/tahoe because the reservoir has two returns, one for the booster and one for the steering box. i had -6 an male fittings welded/brazed on because im using steel braided lines. i could have gone either way. the only problem i had with this set up is that the reservoir is larger so i had to modify the adjusting bracket .

2. i had to cut off the end of the rod that is on the booster, use my trusty tap and die to cut threads on the end of the rod. i then reused the coupling rod from my previous booster by cutting it to fit and rethreading it.

3. if you mean the master cylinder with the reservoir i didnt use it. i like the look of the older style master cylinder, so i used one for a C3 corvette(1968-1982), there are two types, one meant for non-power brakes and one meant for power applications, you need the one for power brakes i.e. shallow rod hole on back of piston

4. looking at the fittings in this picture, the top left fitting leads to the steering box,the one on top closest to the front of the booster is the return to the pump, and the one on the bottom pointing toward the camera goes to the pressure port on the power steering pump.

5. www.talonhydraulics.com is their web address and 1-906-440-5100 is their order line. they are very helpful and as you will see they have the parts you will need to get it together including complete kits(very expensive). By the way, they dont have a bracket for our trucks but the one for 67-72 trucks will work if you are willing to modify the fire wall by drilling two holes. since i already had modified my fire wall for the other booster it worked out for me. if not i believe captainfabs bracket is a bolt-on, no mods. i welded captured nuts on the inside once i lined up the holes with a few mods and then welded up the firewall after i was done. i also started a smoldering fire under the dash due to some hidden insulation, (nervous times), have fun and thanks for the compliments
