Steering column bearings

I am ordering bushings for my steering column. I need opinions from the guys who have replaced them.

We are focusing on the bottom bearing right now.

Classic Parts has the lower bearing for $29.95

Classic Heartbeat sells the bearing for $39.95 and claim it as "Genuine GM"

The Classic Heartbeat product does look better...in the pic.

Do you think "Genuine GM" is worth the extra money or do you think they are the same parts being dug out of the same bin?

Thanks,
Jon

Re: Steering column bearings

I would bet they are the same. Usually the inner part of the bearing is froze to the shaft. You have to cut it to get it off.

Re: Steering column bearings

If Wes says it's Genuine GM, I'd believe him. For $10 more, I wouldn't hesitate to get the one from Wes at classic heartbeat. That's just my opinion, of course.

Re: Steering column bearings

I just replaced the lower on my 71. Got mine from a junkyard truck for free.

I'd rather put that $30-$40 dollars elsewhere. JMO.
