Tailgate upgrade (latch) SWB
Hi guys,
Real new to your site. Anybody have any info on updating the latch(tailgate) on a swb 63'? Thereby eliminating the old style chains and latches. Thanks Rick 63' SWB pro-street project Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

did the same thing, Mar-k. seems a little pricey but if you price a new tailgate its not that bad.

Good looking blue truck. Is that a short bed? Have any more pictures?
Mines a swb 63' big window custom cab. Feel pretty lucky to have found it. Rick Posted via Mobile Device |

That same outfit www.mar-k.com has a nice set of curant model looking hinges available. Thought I'd go w/them. They're available in zink or stainless.

Re: Tailgate upgrade (latch) SWB
My brother used a '71 tailgate's locking mech./straps, with a '81 Elco latch handle.
Works like factory and looks that way too. I will likely do the same on mine.

MAR-K on mine for the hidden latch and metal hinge straps. Works great.

Re: Tailgate upgrade (latch) SWB
here are some additional ideas besides Mar-K. (and don't get me wrong, I really like the Mar-K product line - great stuff - but this link shows some pretty slick home-made approaches just for consideration). Enjoy.
