Throttle cable bracket

I am doing the conversion for throttle rod to throttle cable on my '68. What would be a good throttle cable bracket for this?
Edelbrock 1406 carb
Performer intake
Manual tranny
Installing 350/290 hp crate engine
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Throttle cable bracket

I'm sorry I don't have a part number for you guys but I do have a picture sort of. I'm 99.9997% sure the piece I used was an Edelbrock piece. I don't have a throttle cable but I do use that hole for the cruise control cable on my aftermarket cruise.
As you can see in the pictures there is a hole for the throttle cable and a hole for the th350 TV cable.
I bet if you clicked around on Summit Racing long enough you'd find the part. It had some adjustment in it and is plated the goldish color like some of the linkage on the 1406.

Re: Throttle cable bracket

I'm thinking the stock bracket from the 71/72 Chevy & GMC trucks might work. It's the one that bolts the left rear carb bolt shown in this listing:

I'm pretty sure it's the kind I used on my 72 Chevelle/454 project but would have to double check.

Here is another type that bolts on with the coil bracket from a 72 Impala that might also work.

That cable bracket I believe is made by Holley. I have the exact same one on my truck and it had a Holley part number. I had to modify it to make the kickdown cable bracket underneath work for my Holley 3310 on an Edelbrock RPM Airgap manifold. Did it have a little tab in the front of the bolt hole? Holley carbs have a recess in the baseplate for that tab to fit in so it won't rotate on the stud.

Re: Throttle cable bracket

I converted my '71 with a 4 speed from a cast iron 2bbl intake to an Edelbrock Performer with a Quadrajet. I tried a few of the charming cheapie aftermarket brackets and didn't like them at all, so I ended up finding a stock throttle bracket for GM car with a q-jet. It attached at the back of the carb on the two rear studs, but it didn't fit right and got in the way of the rear vacuum port on the carb body. I ended up cutting it in half basically, using only the side with the bracket, one stud hole and locating tab, works great and looks like it belongs there. Initially I thought this wouldn't work for you, the 1406 is Edelbrocks version of the old Carter AFB which is a square bore and the q-jet is a spread bore, but if, like Gary asked, your carb has a hole in the baseplate for a locating tab (I think they do) then you can probably do the same as me, just find a stock piece and cut it to fit just the one corner of the 1406.
