New 2 me 1966

Picked this up on Thanksgiving Day. Little rough around the edges but I'm liking it. Doing a few little tweaks to make sure all is good and plan to drive everyday.

here is the day 1 pics

didnt really like the rattle can green paint, so broke out the 400 grit and sanded it away and ended up with some green and some sorta patina look. i think it looks much better.

Next steps: I need to get a set of tires!!!! I like the black wall look, so I ask...what tire would you all recommend? 235-75-15 will be the size....just looking for a good tire that will fit the look. I will be using the 15x8 Truck Rally wheels...just need some new tread....THOUGHTS/SUGGESTIONS?

Brad

I will get more pictures once I get new tires put on of the bed/interior.

Re: New 2 me 1966

I was told that it is a 350/350 but i haven't verified the #'s on the block yet. Hope to do that this weekend.

Plans are to just fix all the small stuff (truck has been sitting since 2004...so had to fix a few wiring issues (WD40 and some new bulbs), cleaned a few things underneath (tons of old dirt...you all know what i'm talking about)....radio didnt work (friend of mine fixed that so hope to get it put back in by the weekend).....basically, just get it safe to drive on the road day/night and drive her like she is.

I do plan to put power steering on there, but gonna see how she does once I get new tires....maybe a spring project.

thanks for the compliments..........keep them coming and oh yeah, she will only float for so long....hope to get some tires by Friday.

Re: New 2 me 1966

Nice looking truck, doesn't appear to need very much. When you're taking interior photos, perhaps you could take shots of the inside and outside of the spotlight brackets. That isn't a factory external bracket, but it seems to look and fit nicer than the originals. I'd like to try and determine what that bracket is from to share with others that might want to add one.

Re: New 2 me 1966

These are Dunlops, got from the local tire place for $220 mounted/balanced. I already had the rims off the truck while doing the brakes, so saved a little on the install and removal. I like the truck with a little more height than the stock tire.

Re: New 2 me 1966

great truck! you asked about tires - I prefer blackwalls also, had a heckuva time finding them in 235/75/15 (but that's what I wanted, so that's what I got). I went with Primewell (from Tires Plus, normally...) One word of warning, and maybe it's just the set of tires I bought because i've never heard anyone else complain - but my tires came new with some goopy film. Took forever to get it off the first time, and, oddly, it kinda bleeds back up after a time. Anyway, despite that little oddity, I like the tires and they are pretty inexpensive.

Here's what they look like on my truck.

Luv the truck , luv the color and patina.... dont dare paint it... takes many years to achieve the look you already have. .
