new with a few motor questions

i believe the truck is a early's 50's 51 or 52 maybe 3100 chevy.. 3/4 ton or a 1 ton... i know a guy that will let it go for 500 bucks.. heres the kicker. it doesnt run and the body is pretty rough. im trying to go for a street rod look. funds are limited being im 24 years old and independent. im guessing my first step would be to pull the motor and trans out and have everything sand blasted. im wondering how hard it will be to throw a v8 in it. maybe small block chevy and trans combo?? i have a 60's or 70's ford wide block sitting around collecting dust would it be a waste of time to throw the ford motor in it? thanks for the help guys ill have pics soon im going to look at it this weekend!

First i would forget putting the ford motor in... as for putting in a sm block and auto trans if you have some skills and some tools it's not hard at all.. there are lot of pictures of it being done on here to help.. the more complete you can get the motor will help in the long run to save money..

Re: new with a few motor questions

Great, here's a few to help you... on this one i made up my motor mounts out of cardboard and then cut themout of metal and welded them up.. try to get the truck and the ride height and then set the motor up level front to back and side to side..

The motor mounts are very strong, made just like the ones you spend 80 bucks for... the control arms are in the Mll kit with rack steering..
