I bought mine from LMC it looks good and sticks good. It was alittle more than $20.00.

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

I bought mine from LMC also and it's still looking good since '05. I doubt there are more than a couple of manufacturers of it so I'd buy confident.

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

THANKS guys!!!!!!!!! Did you buy new aftermarket chrome and install the woodgrain? If so did you just scuff up the black paint and stick it on?

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

The original wood was not scuffed. All wood hrome is black underneath with sticker on top. The repops brand if going for originality has the wrong texture. Orginial is almost smooth, theirs has a texture/grain to it. It is only type I have had any experience with but was not impressed, but it does stick well..

Just to clarify - are you saying that the original woodgrain trim was actually just the plain ol non-woodgrain trim (i.e. black) but with woodgrain tape added (i.e. that's how the FACTORY woodgrain trim was made)?

Very curious - if this is the case, I certainly did not realize that - and I've just learned something!

I have to be honest, although I like Supers - I also kinda like the black accented trim.

Did the Super option include woodgrain trim automatically? I see plenty of non-Supers with woodgrain trim, so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks!

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

69/70 CST,71/72 Cheyennes and Cheyenne Supers are what woodgrain trim and tailgate band came on. As far as I know all factory trim was black accent and they put the applique on.

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

Thanks for the replies. I bought some repop SWB trim from a member but it was black and my truck had the woodgrain. I am going to degrease the black part and apply some new woodgrain tape.

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

I can tell you in 1980 they didn't scuff the paint, peeled my wagon and it was super nice black paint underneith.

for anything sticky and out doors, has to be made by 3M if you want it to last.

Re: Woodgrain tape for side moldings

3M Di-Noc is the brand name. Google it and see what you come up with. I have a full roll in the tube with a GM part number on it....for a wagon.
