Question Odd Size Rims on 68 c10.

Need some help please...i just bought my 68 c10 a few weeks ago. It had 16" 6 lug newer chevy truck rims and big tires on it...I just bought new 6 lug rally rims to put on to bring it down some...well when i went to take off the rrims..i noticed the lug studs say M on them (metric I assume)..I know for a fact my last 68 c10 had regular 1/2 studs on it...
The metric studs that are on it now are bigger in diamter than the 1/2 " that should be on there...
I tried one of my rally tims and it went on..but when i put the metric nut on it didnt seem to fit quite rite....like the taper was too small on the rim for the bigger nut..
What should I do..I really want the new rallyrims on my truck...If i pop out the bigger metric studs will the correct 1/2" studs go in..or did they drill it out to make it bigger?
very confused ..as i've never ran into this b4..
thx for any help..its much appreciatedl

p/o it was prob cheaper for him to pop the studs out of the donor truck that he got the newer rims off of. than buy new lug nuts..
no idea if the knerl that holds the newer stud is bigger you'll have to pull one and see if the standard 1/2 is loose in the hole..

Original 67-70 6-lug trucks had 7/16" lug studs.
The 71-72 5-lug trucks had 1/2" lug studs.

You are going to have to find out what the P/O put on your truck and see if it can be reversed.
Do you have disc brakes up front?

ok got the wheel adapters off back and looking at front rotors...here is what i figured out.
The previous owner put 1/2 lug studs and nuts on instead of the 7/16" that are suppose to be on...
My question for more experienced chevy people...I just bought 4 15" rally wheels for my 68 c/10....can i use the studs on my truck that are 1/2 ..or must i use the 7/16 studs...I put a wheel on and it seemed to buckle up just fine with the 1/2...but i wanna be sure before going highway speed with my son in the truck with me.
thank you in adv.

Re: Odd Size Rims on 68 c10.

Got any pics of the front rotors and rear axles?

You never mentioned adapters in your first post.
So the front has disc brakes.
Does it have a solid rotor or the type that is like a "hat" that fits over a hub?

Just trying to figure out what you have.

Re: Odd Size Rims on 68 c10.

ok it had wheel adapters on the back..they had newer chevy rims on it..with fatter metric studs.....on the front they were the same fatter metric studs...well i popped out the metric studs on the front hubs and went to install the 7/16" studs and they were loose in the holes...then i looked at the rear studs (after i took off the wheel adapters on back) and the studs were 1/2 " (studs holding the adapter on)...So I figured the 1/2 studs were stock from the factory...but when i go to parts stores they all say it had 7/16th studs originally....
Ok so i have new 6 lug rally wheels..i put them on the 1/2 studs and they seem to fit right and tighten down ok....but its suppose to be 7/16.....WILL THESE STOCK WHEELS BE OK ON 1/2 STUDS INSTEAD OF THE 7/16 IT'S SUPPOSE TO HAVE...
its veryonfusing i know..i hope i articulated it so you can understand....
oh and no disc brakes...stock 6 lug drumm all around

Sorry I was confused.
I saw the word "rotor" in your reply and assumed you had disc brakes instead of the factory front drum brakes.

As long as you use a 1/2" acorn style lug nut you should be fine.
I always check any wheel for loose lug nuts within 50 miles of mounting them.

Maybe someone else can chime in on this issue.
