URGENT: Oil Leak
My 88 had a small oil leak, maybe 10 drops overnight. Then one day it went to a puddle when it was idling warming up. So I went through my day and called my mechanic, next day at 9 am I went in, truck had lost 3/4 quart of oil in that 24hr span. So he looked under it, it was where the oil cooler/filter housing bolts to the block. So I went to AutoZone and got an O-ring/gasket set for it and he took it all apart and scrapped the old stuff out and put the new stuff in. I also had him change the oil and put in NAPA(valvoline btw) 5w30 and a NAPA Gold filter. I checked it almost everyday for the next week. Then yesteday I started the truck and let it warm up, I walk outside and theres the same puddle! I called my mechanic and he told me to come in 9am Monday. Any ideas guys? I need this fixed ASAP. Could it be the housing? Thanks, Bradley

Re: URGENT: Oil Leak
Since it's all cleaned up from the last fix. It should be uber easy to find the leak. If not you need a new mechanic.
I guess it could be the rear mail seal... Otherwise we need more info. I've never seen a block crack and leak oil(that sounds like what you are saying) Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by bikes&bowties; 12-18-2011 at 01:22 PM. |

Re: URGENT: Oil Leak
If it has an electric oil pressure gauge the senders can start leaking. They usually run oil down the rear drivers side of the engine and it looks like the oil filter area is leaking. Just something to check.

Re: URGENT: Oil Leak
Went to him yesterday. The oil filter adapter housing is cracked right where it meets the block. Damn. So I'm on the search for one because parts stores dont have it. Any ideas?

Re: URGENT: Oil Leak
Got mine off a mid 80's motorhome P30/32 chassis with a 454 and bolted right up to my 350.... I would hit ebay, CL or junkyard
